Found a couple that might work, now just have to get out there and give them a go. Good work! 60D / EOS Elan / 15-85 IS USM / 70-200 f4L IS / 50 1.4 / 430ex / Fujifilm X100s / Slik U-212 (a genuine antique, like me....)

Nov 03, 2011 15:33 | #4 The biggest issue I have is never knowing when anything other then a passenger or commuter train is due past the loaction I stake out. It is one thing to sit and wait on a warm fall day, but another to do it in the dead of winter. I get conflicting info from locals on when the trains run through an area, and always get the answer of "Anytime"....yup that helps...LOL Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

Not enough traffic in any given day to make it worthwhile to just sit and wait. People that know me call me Dan

I've never had any luck chasing trains, so as long as its a nice day a chair, a cooler and a book to read and I'll wait it out. I think having a scanner and understanding what it all means will make freight shooting much easier. Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

Nov 04, 2011 09:30 | #9 Can you shoot this spot from the other side of the tracks in the morning? Your camera is alot smarter than the "M" Zealots would have you believe

Mr.Pick Senior Member 441 posts Likes: 6 Joined Nov 2010 Location: Middle Tennessee More info | I can get to the other side of the track, but it would not be as scenic, and would be a little more difficult logistically. This location will be an afternoon/evening place. Still scouting a good morning location. Got a couple of possibilities, but going to have to investigate a little more. 60D / EOS Elan / 15-85 IS USM / 70-200 f4L IS / 50 1.4 / 430ex / Fujifilm X100s / Slik U-212 (a genuine antique, like me....)
