I took this, just like alot of posters, after the snowstorm this past weekend. My clamatis was still in bloom when the storm hit. This image was uploaded via my first gen iPad, edited with Nik's 'Snapseed' software, but the raw image is still in my computer...
Please critique!

It's not very interesting. You included too much of the rest of the plant. The flower being wilted doesn't really do anything and there is nothing that really shows the snow that apparently was there in a pleasing way.

I opened this thread thinking I would see snow on a plant...and honestly, it took me a few seconds to actually find it.

Get a lot closer

This isn't necessarily a flippant comment. I actually agree, getting closer might have made for a stronger composition.

I don't think the subject stands out enough, and it competes for attention with that red leaf in the top corner. That weird brown "octopus" thing immediately above the flower is a bit bright too, also taking away from the impact of the shot.

Getting closer would have revealed more detail of the flower--as one member suggested it is hard to see frost, I don't see it actually--not that there is any, or has to be for it to be a good picture.

You found what could be a really interesting subject, now you just need to present it in an interesting manner. Hope this helps some.

If you only want atta-boys and don't want C&C, you've posted in the wrong place...you really needed to get a lot closer.

Not looking for "atta boy's", just some helpful critisism for imrpoving my photography. Simple answers oare ok, but "get closer" doesnt really convey the message as to the reasoning behind it. SO keep being a d*ck...at least your family loves you....

You won't be getting much C&C in the future if this is how you're going to be reacting.

The comments these guys are making are correct. Your picture is not very interesting compositionaly and probably would have been better if you were closer to what the intended subject is. As it is, there are too many distracting elements that take away from the clematis and the snow.

You're right in that I should have been more circumspect about my C&C and taken your lack of knowledge into consideration...my saying "get closer", in and of itself, was obviously well beyond your comprehension.
Please, allow me to apologize for that over-site as it's really not your fault but merely a basic lack of aforesaid knowledge.

cri·tique   [kri-teek] Show IPA noun, verb, -tiqued, -ti·quing.
noun
1.
an article or essay criticizing a literary or other work; detailed evaluation; review.

I have noticed that a lot of the "critiques" on this forum a blunt, one or two word replies, that hold no value in helping the photographer enhance the skill...or others that are perusing the critique forums.

I appreciate the actual critique that my image has gotten from the other posters, my issue was with the flippant brief response of chauncey, that did not describe what I should be looking for by getting closer.

So I have determined ,then, that the image described in the title did not meet expectations. I will change the title of the image to something that suits...

Changing the title of the image isn't going to make the image any better.

To me it looks like a snapshot my kids took. You should try and get closer or blur the blackgroud more to isolate the flower pedals. Just my two cents.
