How to Mount Microphone on T2i?

So I just bought a T2i and a Tascam DR-05 so she can make videos. How do I go about mounting the microphone on the camera? It does have something to mount it on a tripod but was thinking about using the flash shoe perhaps. Any ideas? Thanks

You can get a simple threaded foot and locking ring that fits in the hot shoe.

If possible you want to strive to get the recorder off the camera completely as you will still get handling noise and the main advantage of a remote recorder is you can locate it much closer to the sound source.

John hit it on the head. Off camera mics are a lot like off camera flash. It's just better all the way around.

Most sound recordiing gear is better closer to the source. There are a few specialty mics that are designed to work from a distance, but nothing that you want mounted to the top of you camera. Just for fun, google a Sennhieser 816 and see the specs and what it does! HA! I own a 815 that almost never gets used and I do sound for a living.

Try to remember that proximity to the source is you friend.
