I have pocketwizards on order and i'm looking at options for my additional flash requirments. Currently my 580EXII works great but i just wondered if there were other options out there that could offer the same ETTL functions wirelessly or am i stuck with the cost of another 580EXII?

I've been down this road. I'll save you some time. The only units besides canon that can utilize E-TTL on pocketwizards is the Nissin di866 mark ii. The modeling flash is not supported though and although there is a setting for it, pocketwizard support does not support troubleshooting with any units other than canon.

Since you mention ETTL, I'm assuming you ordered the PW FlexTT5's and not the older non-ETTL PW+II's.

My recommendation is a used 550EX. It sells for much less than the Nissin and about the same price as the Yongnuo YN-565 mentioned above (~$175).

You gain Canon build quality and full compatibility. They can be used as Master. And they don't have the RF interference range issues and HSS flashtube burnout issue as the 580EXII.

A word of caution. This flash

1) Will not function as a master
2) Does not offer high speed sync
3) Is shown to have issues working E-TTL through pocketwizards.

As I said, been there, researched that. :-)
