Hey guys, i've been wanting a DSLR for a couple of years now and never done so.. Im about to go over seas on holiday in a few weeks time and ive said to my self that i have to buy one now! Im pretty sure ive settled on the 60D, but if for some reason i cant, then it will have to be the 600D. Anyway, i was wanting to purchase the twin lens kit but i never hear of any one buying them? And a lot of people tend to avoid them.. i dont understand why! Someone help?

The 18-55 IS and 55-250 IS lenses are great, if you want them, buy them.

They won't be the greatest in low light situations though unless you bump up your ISO into the 6400+ range.

Personally, I'd get the 60D with either the EF-S 18-135 IS or the EF-S 18-200 IS and the EF 28-1.8. The small 270exII flash would also be included.

Kit lens are different on different cameras.
I'm not sure wich lens comes as kit with 60D.
Rebel comes with 18-55 ef-s IS. Wich is surpriselly best kit lens in terms of sharpness wide open.
It is kind of dull on colors and not the best lens for contrast, but CPL for bright day and some small PP in LR will give you good pictures.
It has good IS, accurate and fast AF. Best lens for price-performance if you are OK to do some minimum PP.

I don't think most folks would hold getting the 18-55 and the 55-250 as a kit package against you since they're good lenses for the cost (although 55-250 has gone up a good bit lately). They're both great lenses for learning, and throw in the 50 1.8 and you've pretty much got a perfect kit to learn where you want to invest future money. Some people just know exactly what they want / need and get it right away.

Some dual kit lenses are pretty bad, like the ones that still package the non IS 300 zoom.

I did get the t3i w/ kit lens + a 55-250 as my first purchase. Added the 50 1.8 a few weeks later. I've got my eye on some lens upgrades, but just when I think I've got it figured out I change my mind. The 60d would be a great choice too though..... sometimes I wish I had the two control dials. I just couldn't justify nearly another $300 and only having the camera and the 18-135 at the time and still think I made the right call. Now that the prices have kind of squeezed together and the great rebate is gone (got the 55-250 for $39) it would be a tougher call

T3i, Sigma 10-20, Sigma 30 1.4, 18-55 kit, 55-250, YN-565, a few books, some software, and a desire to get good.....

As others have said if you are using these in good sunlight they are great. Also for static objects they are ok too with the IS. If you shoot in raw DPP will handle the distortion and CA. The only issue you will have is if you have low light and you want to stop anyone moving. So guess deepnds on what you are planning to photograph?

actually the 18-55IS and 55-250IS is one of Canon's best value lens, sure there are better lens with larger apertures and longer focal length but it will cost you considerably more!

If you intend photographing the car depicted in your avatar, don't, it will probably destroy the camera and melt the lens.

Sorry, couldn't resist, but they are a great car, particularly the M3 coupe. Do you have any pics?

As others have already said, that combination will do a very good job at photographing most things. It won't do an exceptional job - for that you need to spend an exceptionally large amount of money.
