LMAO! Great shots - if the Melbourne one's still on (they were talking about re grouping last weekend, but I think it was called off as they all forgot what they were protesting about... that and it rained) - might head into town for a bit.

Too many Hippies in one area lol. Nice work

Yeah, I think they'd be taken a bit more serious if they took themselves a lot more serious. Looks like a transient camp.

It smells worse than normal in Portland and that's saying a LOT haha. Nice shots!

I intentionally did not comment on any of these as I didn't want to interject my thoughts. I like to let the pictures speak for themselves.
The sad thing is, these people have the freedom of speech, as we all do here. If they truly had a message they were trying to convey, they are not doing themselves any favors by portraying themselves this way.

I didn't want to mention this until I had received a few responses first: The very first impression I had of these people when I crossed the street to begin photographing was the overwhelming smell of old urine! Seriously, is that what they really want?

Now if they started protesting for a "real" reason that would make the shots better haha
They should be Occupying 1600 Pennsylvania Ave not Wall Street. Who do they think bailed out the banks? Wall Street? These guys need a history lesson. But they have the right, just like we all do; thats what makes America great. People have the right to their opinion, even if they're wrong.

The shots do speak volumes of the persons/mood that are behind this movement. Nice work

If they are trying to convey a message across, it should be done in a well mannered and presentable way. Not smelling of old urine.

Thanks everyone for the great comments. The funny thing is, I prefer doing outdoor landscape photography! The reason these turned out so well was the overcast sky gave nice, even lighting. Additionally, the area was ripe (no pun intended) with opportunities. It was like going to photograph in Yosemite National Park. Everywhere you turned, there was something to shoot. It was almost too easy!
