While I was working, (coulnd't happen anywhere else),and the 20D locked up, the shutter would not fire. The 20D would focus though:rolleyes: , the battery grip was on..It would not show how many pics were left. I changed cards, same... I then turned the camera off and on...same....Took of the lens...same response...I was puzzled, etc. I went up to a photographer at the game, he tried the same, then he gave it a shot of taking the batteries out....waited 10 sec, then tried again, it worked...Then another problem, I got the ERR Sign....Now I'm ready to go, it works, I fired a couple of shots, then it happened again:rolleyes: . I took out the battery, waited 10 seconds.. it workds again.....what A funky camera, I guees I can't rely on it if I buy it :(.....Does anyone know what the problem was?????????

Bad grip. An extremely well known problem. Call Canon. They'll replace it.

I saw this problem on mine from time to time, once every 3 to 4 months, and was told by Canon UK that there is an IS 'issue' (this has also been mentioned on this forum) with the 70-200f2.8L lense. However, since upgrading to v2.02 firmware I havent seen the problem again! BG-E2, just got back from Canon repair, usually shuts camera down with a flashing 'empty' battery sign even after full charging. See Canon 20D service notice on Canon US www.

Hope this helps.
