Hi guys

A good friend of mine asked me to take pictures of her newborn girl. I have been preparing for this shot for a long time now. I know there was a post here where someone did pullback pictures of shooting with black background and then explaining the post processing. I thought I had subscribed to the thread but apparently not

Thanks for the quick reply. No. it's not this one. Mind you, I love Lisa's work!!! The one I'm looking for shows the use of black cloth and then step by step pp in photoshop. Arhhh! why didn't I subscribe to the thread!:P

Unfortunately not. I know I spotted it about a month ago. I did a search (newborn + background + black, etc) but to no avail.

Thanks a lot. The shoot is happening tomorrow. I am planning to use available light but just in case it's really overcast I'll take my umbrella. Any tips and advice on posing and lighting?
Much appreciate you time and help.

The biggest tip is just make sure the temperature in the room is hot....at least 85F. Take your time and have mommy and daddy help by holding and posing the baby. Go for the simple stuff and once you get images you know are good, add a hat, head band or change the background without moving the baby....it gives variation. And remember to try different angles, tilts and leave room for cropping in post.

Try natural light and if needed bump the ISO to the cameras limits as long as you are exposing correctly, but use a tripod to ensure sharp images.

Oh ya...post them when your done editing.
