This week I was fortunate to upgrade from the 1D MKII to the 1D MKIV. Of course now that football season is over and basketball games in our area have not yet started I had to find something to shoot with the new camera today. We have a new BMX track not to far away so I thought I would take the MK IV to get familiar with it. This is a first shooting BMX for me and I must say it was a lot of fun. All images were shot with the 300 2.8. C&C welcome.

Hi Mark

Nice shots, BMX racing is an awsome sport to photograph. My son races in the St.Louis area, we travel all over the country with this sport. Check out my Zenfolio page in my signature just about everything on there is BMX racing. If you have any questions about the sport let me know.

Few technical notes. With that body lense combo images should be much sharper and less noisy. Only last image is sharp, others look way too soft and noisy. Also the colour temp changes from image to image

I see a lot of jpeg artifacts .. I'd chalk it up to compression from Photobucket.

OPs Zenfolio gallery is much, much cleaner.

Nice pics, but IMO, the motion is stopped too much. I'm very new to photography, but it's just my opinion as a viewer. I get more a sense that they're posing with their bikes on the track than they are actually racing.

I try to shoot under 1/250 so the spokes and the background are blurred to give that sense of movement
