Inked is the title of a series I've just started, and felt I should share the first two pieces from the series.

My idea came out of boredom, but it's proven to be quite interesting. I'm photographing people with back and ribcage tattoos. It's become a series about the art people choose to decorate themselves with.

These are the first two!

Thanks for the critique! I'll go through and see what I can do.

Can I suggest a consistent background, either natural or seamless across the entire series? Gives it a continuity...

I think this is a great project and I hope you continue to share your pictures! I am fascinated with tattoos and also love looking at how people choose to express themselves.

Critique for Kasey: in the first picture, her tattoo is very out of focus. You captured her face and eyes wonderfully, but if your project is focusing on her ink, doesn't it being out of focus kind of defeat the point?

Critique for Jaime: I am noticing a lot of white spots that are very distracting (picture 1: upper left above her arm, on her left cheek and to the left and right of her torso; picture 2: top left corner and also the right side behind her back) Were the pictures scanned from film or perhaps it was snowing/raining when you took the pictures?

I also have to agree with the pp, having a neutral consistent background will help keep your viewer's focus on the tattoos and the story you are portraying.
