I have the above printer and B&H states in their catalog that this will print directly on to printable CDs/DVDs. No where in the manual does it state this. B&H tells me that Canon doesn't enable the feature in this market due to a patent infringement, but it can be done. Does anyone have this printer set up to print CDs and if so, what needs to be done to make it work. Thanks!

I believe it may be some sort of a licensing/patent issue. Many Epson printers seem to have the capability out of the box, but Canon does not. Cannot recall the website, possibly on eBay, but for my Pro 9500 I found a person who was selling the CD/DVD tray and firmware modification. The printer was built to print on DVD's, but the firmware was not enabled, and an easily removed plastic cover plate was over the slot.

How did you enable the firmware and what software do you use for printing to the CDs/DVDs?

My 9500 is out of service, cannot be certain, but as I recall there was a CD and instructions sent with the tray. I used the Canon Easy-Photoprint EX software. Once the printer was enabled, the software "knew" the feature existed and it worked.

I have the CD tray and European version of the software, but the link is dead with instructions (pressing power/resume buttons) to enable the CD printing option on the Pro9000 Mark II firmware:

Has anyone successfully enabled CD printing on their Pro9000 Mk II?

It works fine on mine and I don't think I did anything fancy to get it going. I have a Print DVD/CD label choice on the Canon Solution Menu. I'm on a Mac.
