First , let me thank all of you guys who have inspired, helped and guided me especially LisaJH, Sarah, Moeronn, SF1 and others. I have been wanting to do a newborn session for a long time. Today I had the privilege and honor to shoot a 7 day old newborn called La'shayer who was a granddaughter of a good friend of mine. I shot 16Gb worth of pics and these are the two that I've edited so far. C&C most welcome especially regarding the skin tones. You want it to be really good and true and believe me after staring at the monitor for an hour you just don't know what's right and wrong:)

WOW - fantastic job.

The only nit pick on #1 would be the ring and the fingers not lacing - still a wonderful image as is.

On image #2 the rich red colour makes this image come alive and the babies position is perfect - you see the entire face and fingers - I'm going to have to steal this one. I have to get a red blanket pronto.

If the parents are not over the top about these images, there is something wrong because you did a fantastic job....I'm not sure how you are going to out do yourself next time.

Oh ya, since these are so nice, you may want to make your watermark bigger.

Awesome Photo's. I'll agree that the ring is a bit distracting, otherwise simply awesome. These baby pics always amaze me. How do you get such cooperation out of infants? Lol

Thanks guys. The ring will be moved whatever it takes, stamp, free transform maybe even puppet warp and liquify but it will go. I couldn't believe it myself when I saw it at home on my pc. but I'm glad it happened on my first shot. All pictures were taken using natural light only.

I would probably crop a bit tighter in that second photo, if it were mine, but....DYNAMITE image! The red blanket is awesome, the light, the posing, the expression, all perfection. They should be over the moon with that image.

I respectfully disagree with Sue :) Only because I think the vastness of the red blanket truly highlights how itty bitty this little girl is :)

What kind of prop did you use to put baby into? It looks to be a large bean bag.
