It is almost a picture of a tree, but you have cropped out some of the branches. The couple seem incidental to the shot.the light coming from the right of the frame seems kind of odd, the way it lights up the tree trunk and the grass. The shot looks soft on my monitor, might be the look you were going for.

Sirrith Cream of the Crop More info | Nov 07, 2011 09:51 | #8 Why is there a really bright light shining on part of the trunk? Why is the foreground completely black? Why are the branches clipped? Why are there 2 random people standing there ruining the shot of the tree, and why is there a halo around their butts? -Tom

The color in the background and the dramatic tree branch reaching out above them and framing the couple are nice. It also looks like there is nice dramatic light on the couple. Maybe move closer and to your left, then shoot horizontally with the 70-200 framing the couple, the tree and the city in the background like this crop. You would have to have changed your perspective to keep the city, but you get the idea. Saturnalia for all you have.

Nov 07, 2011 10:13 | #11 touche touche, I have obviously a lot of images with different crops. I just latched onto this one - apparently in misguided taste. 5DII, 40D, 24-70 f/2.8L, 70-200 f/2.8L IS, 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, 50 f/1.8 II, 580EXII, 580EX, ABR800

Needs less crop and the tree needs to be less centered. Maybe take a longer lens and walk a hundred feet backwards (and lose the blown out trunk).

Not sure what is the subject matter, the tree has all the lighting which draws me to the tree. www.Jeffreyantonphotography.com

A HDR approach to get both some foreground detail and the gorgeous sunset in the same exposure would have lifted the tree a bit.
