Does anyone have Sony NEX-5N?

Anybody shooting the NEX-5N? I recently sold my 7D to get a smaller secondary body (for travel and daily uses). I always wanted the X100 (for its awesome IQ and high ISO brilliance) but so much divided reviews... I just canceled my NEX-7 preorder because I heard that the high ISO would not be as good as NEX-5N. Not in the hunt for specific purposes, but just want a solid high ISO performer with decent AF consistencies in lowlight...

Yes, I own the Nex-5N. I bought it with the EVF, which is awesome. I use mine mainly for legacy lenses - Nikon, Canon FD, Voigtlaender and Contax G lenses. I also have the kit lens that came with the camera. AF is very quick, high ISO is excellent and the manual focus features are better than in a rangefinder camera IMHO. The widest lens I have used is my 15mm Voigtlaender and the longest was my 300mm Nikon lens. I deliberately chose the 5N over the new NEX-7. I was concerned about low light, high ISO capabilities of the sensor in the 7. While it would be nice to have all the features of the 7 - like the built-in EVF and the superior controls, for me Image Quality was way more important.

Thanks for your input 5Dmaniac! How do you like the IQ of NEX-5N when compared to 5Dc? and how do you like the kit lens anyways? decent at least? I'm asking because I don't own any legacy lenses...

The kit lens is fine and does a pretty good job - it is a slow lens, but that's the price we pay for having a reasonably small zoom lens. The IQ is very impressive and rivals that of my 7D - although I have not really done any side-by-side comparisons. My 5D still beats any crop sensor IMHO

I don't have a 5N. I just have a 5. It is so easy to manually focus on NEX cameras. My grandfather had a bunch of old lenses, and it is so much fun (and cheap) to play around with those lenses on my NEX. The body is small, and once you get used to the menu system, I can move around it pretty quickly.

Bump. Anyone else using the Sony NEX-5N (or 5?)?

I enjoy my 60D, but the size prevents me from bringing it along on casual outings.

I have a 5N, carry it with me all the time. I'm using it with old Leica-R lenses, and I have an EF adapter as well to use my canon glass if I need to. The focus peaking function is implemented really well on the sony NEX, much better than magic lantern did on the 550D. Makes using legacy lenses a breeze and downright fun on the rear LCD panel. Just ordered the optional EVF for it too, can't wait to see how it changes the shooting experience. Never considered using any of the Sony lenses though, from what I've seen in reviews, they are all pretty average, except the Zeiss 24mm 1.8. But if I'm going to spend that much on a glass, I'd buy it for the SLR.

another NEX 5 user here. it's my favorite camera that i've owned so far. if i were buying now, i'd purchase the 5N. it's a better camera in many ways.

Since I posted this thread, I just went ahead and bought a spankin new 1DMKIV... Maybe one of these days I'd reconsider looking into a smaller but very capable body.

LMAO! Funny how you got rid of your 7D to get a smaller and lighter body... only to get one of Canon's heaviest and most bulky cameras.
