I wonder if Newegg will end up cutting it's own throat by doing this.

How is this cutting their own throat? Newegg has had a warehouse in China for a number of years. The company's founder is a Taiwanese immigrant. It's no surprise the company would offer products from Asia.

Not at all. The profit margin is high on these "gift" items. However, would you buy this http://www.newegg.com ….aspx?Item=9SIA0KV0662426 (external link) for $32???

Or $60 on these salt and pepper shaker set?

It says to me they don't care much about the quality of products being sold anymore. After the fake CPU fiasco involving an unauthorized distributor one would think they would keep supply chains tight.

There was a time when Newegg was the best source for electronics but lately they have taken a back seat to other retailers. The prices have gone up, they deduct shipping for RMA's, they rarely if ever have anything on sale that can't be matched elsewhere. Customer service is not so customer oriented but caters more to company profits. To me it just feels as though Newegg is doing everything it can to slowly push customers away.

I think they have established a brand already and feel confident enough to outsourcing their sales.... I am disappointed that they are carrying photography products from 47th street. Fortunately, I only shop from 3 places...BH, Adorama, and Beach Camera.

There has been Newegg china for a looong time. Newegg china is nothing compared to US Newegg.

First from China is part of Newegg US where is appears they are looking to push Chinese goods direct. In turn this could allow them to sell less of the more known and trusted brands like Sandisk with potentially lower markup (They been pushing Rosewill products hard lately) and cut out US based supply chains entirely. Could be no big deal or it could end up turning Newegg like Ebay or even worse Dealextreme where it's near impossible to know if what you are getting for your money.

If you look at the E-Blast pomos you will see what i mean almost every colum has cheap Rosewill products. Those generics are often being sold for near the same prices as higher quality brands.

As an example i'll use the DVD's which the price is a joke considering more trusted brands sell for just $3-4 more. There is no way Rosewill DVD's are anywhere near on par with the quality of anything Verbatim considering a $3 difference in price. Sure they will probably burn just fine if you just want to save a buck on throw away disks. But the foil and overall archival quality will be total crap and most consumers are to stupid to understand why not everything cheap is worth the savings.

Sometimes i feel the need to avoid Fufilment by Amazon for the very same reason. They simply have no way to know monitor the legitimacy of the supply chains used by the various merchants many of whom appear to be primarily selling knockoffs. But at least if it is determined to be fake or there is reason to have any doubt Amazon wont stiff me on return shipping and then hit me for restocking fees. Lately i've read where many Newegg customers were being forced to cover return shipping even on defective items which is total BS.

Yeah paying for return shipping on a warrenty item is BS. it is called the cost of doing business. I can drive my stuff back though its only 15 minutes away.

I get the guerrilla deal thing too. 99.999999% of the time its pure crap.

I always thought Rosewill was Newegg's brand.

I never realized that which is strange because Rosewill products are also sold on Amazon. But it seems to be the case and it sounds as though the products are on the same quality level with the RocketFish brand that BestBuy uses.
