Why not sell my Canon 5D Mk II for a 7D

Having added a 7D to my kit about 6 months ago, I have noticed that the 5D II has been staying in the bag more and more. I haven't noticed a difference in IQ from the work out of both cameras, but that might have more to do with my normal subject matter -- real estate and sports. I rarely shoot the 5D II at 21 MP.

So I am seriously thinking of selling my 5D II. Anyone made the same transition, and lived to regret it?

If one of your subject is real estate, wouldn't full frame be more beneficial due to the ease of use when it comes to wide angle lens?

For sports, I can agree with you on that but I think you have a decision to make.

1DS Mark III.

There, I said it.

I would love a 1DS Mark III, but I need video -- shoot quite a bit of it.

For the real estate, I haven't found anything to say bad about the 10-22 / 7D combo. I probably wouldn't shoot an AD cover with it, but they aren't returning my calls, so......

You can always sell your 5D Mark II, buy the 5D classic and have room for another 7D if I'm correct.

The 5Dc is 850-1100 at most.
The 7D is 1100-1300 at most.

Or that's the prices on CL from around my area.

If your 5DMii is rarely used, it makes sense to sell it now since camera body depreciates fast, expecially when it's getting closer to the release of its successor. If you really miss it after selling it, u can easily find a refurb or low-mileage 5Dmii later, at a lower price even.

I have a brand new 7D I was thinking of trading for a 5Dm2. Let me know if you're interested.

No way, don't sell your 5Dmkii. Full frame is the biggest advantage. I had a 60D and sold it for a 5Dmkii. I will NEVER, I mean NEVER go back to a crop sensor. The 5Dmkii gets more use of my lenses more too! I don't know about others but, as a wedding photographer, a full frame makes a HUGE difference.

If you feel you don't need it, then you're not missing much from the 5Dii that the 7D won't do. It is obviously up to you, but if your 10-22 covers your landscape stuff then let the 5Dii go and get some glass!

I've just got a 5D2 to compliment the 7D. Unfortunately, I haven't had the time or the weather to go out and try it yet but I dont think 1 will replace the other. I love my 7D for sports, airshows and wildlife, but the 5D2 will also be used for wildlife as well as portraits and landscapes.

Having both i would find it hard to sell either as each has it's place as a tool. I would personally miss my 5dII for its IQ and buttery smooth images though.

I have a different feeling. I would like to trade/sell my 7D for a 5D2. 5D2 suits me more for what I shoot (weddings and events).

I had a 7D + 5DII. Sold the 7D and got another 5DII. The better choice, for me. If you are not using the 5DII, get rid of it.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
