You can get these at Sears pretty cheap.

I would not recommend them for REALLY cold weather but they do grip the camera EXCELLENT.

I have fliptop mittens that have a really thin glove inside. I find if I'm not changing settings I can actually use the camera with the mittens closed up (I can feel the shutter button enough to find halfpress). They were maybe $30.
I did a charity winter softball game last year and beer was freezing after one sip, my hands were fine.
I'm from MN, if it's more than 25-30 degrees F the most i'll have on is mechanics gloves.

I recently got a pair of OR [Outdoor Research Versaliner] gloves. I had them out at -15C and my hands were warm. There is a zippered pocket on the front that contains a waterproof outer liner [which could also be used for chemical hand warmers. I can shoot pretty well with my gloves on.

now a days there are many companies putting out 'touch gloves' there supposed to be for iphone and touch like things.

I must say they work really good for photography. The brand I have is called 'superbrand - supermarket clothing for the comfortable life'. The don't look even close to as tacky as the name would suggest. I bought them at a mountaineering shop in the Japan- so I am sure something was lost in the translation.

They're thin, tight, warm and I am guessing wool. They work with touch screen and very easily with my camera dials. yesterday I did an alpine bike ride with them- total 8 hours door to door with gloves on- I was quite surprised they were not at all wet. I wore them expecting to have to change them but they stayed dried and warm for the whole day.

Work great with the camera and best of all no exposed finger tips or open seams. They look like normal wool gloves. I tried to find them on Google but no such luck, I would google touch gloves for similar options though.

I've got golf gloves and baseball batting gloves which are inexpensive and great in the moderately cold weather. I don't do freezing cold weather so I can vouch for their effectiveness there.

It's hard to find something warm that doesn't kill your dexterity. I use the Lightweight Pro Tactical Glove from Glacier Gloves. They have a neoprene back and a textured polyurethane palm so they're fairly water and wind resistant. They're great for photography because is the palm material is pretty thin, thin enough to feel all of the camera's buttons. They're also really cheap. I think I paid between $10 and $15 from a local army surplus store.

They're this glove but without the finger cutouts

I think the aquatech sensory gloves is pretty good, waterproof , it has insulation layers and thumb/index can be exposed for control.

Best shooting gloves I've ever used. I've got two pair, a medium for the cool weather, and a large to wear over polypro liner gloves.

Search gloves here. There is a 12 page thread on gloves.

Another vote for Aquatech. I tried several, search ended with these.

Any time you're looking for something that the photography industry hasnt thought of yet, just look towards the Military/Law Enforcement side of things

I haven't used these personally, but they look really nice

I use a pair of the REI "Minimalist" gloves (external link) while shooting in cooler temp and/or breezy days. Wind and water resistant, yet thin enough to operate the controls on the camera.

Bass Pro shops carry "fishing" gloves that have the thumb and forefinger exposed on each glove. They work fine shooting in cold weather.
