If the 500D is the T1i, I am not sure about the pricing.

Quick check at Best Buy ( for pricing )

Rebel T1i $749 USD w/ EF-S 18-55mm lens
Rebel T2i $664.39 ( ON SALE ) EF-S w/18-55mm
Rebel T3i $770 ( ON SALE ) w/EF-S 18-55mm lens
Canon G12 $439.00

My bad, went to wrong site for price check before posting.

In your first post you said you found the DSLR hard work, because you never used it on auto. Here's a tip. Set it (the DSLR) on auto. Problem solved.

I love the light weight of the P&S but only when I can shoot with a P&S what I do now with the DSLR.
But this will take some time to make it happen so I keep my DLSR atm and still keep dreaming on.

I haven't touched my DSLR in the year and a half since I purchased my G11.

Thanks for the advice (and criticism honestly!) I am thinking that the X10 will fit all what I need. I like the manual control, it was more of not wanting to lug around the DSLR and kit everywhere I went. I am thinking that a small camera like the X10 will get much more use.

After all, the best camera is always the one you have with you!

Just my personal opinion, but I would be very dissatisfied if I knew that the only cameras I had at my disposal was the S5IS and my camera phone. The camera phone and the S5IS are basically with me all the time for snapshots of things I want to see again, but I know the image quality is not going to satisfy me for a lot of shots I take. 90% of the time I know when the DSLR will be needed and I plan accordingly.

JMHO

Gear list: S5IS, 40D, Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS, Canon 70-200 f4 L IS, Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM, Canon 50mm f1.8 mk1, Canon 85mm f1.8, Sigma 30mm f1.4 EX DC HSM, 430EXII, Kenko 1.4x TC, tripod
