what third party lenses are compatable with the canon 1d mk2

i see sigma have dg and dc in the descriptions

Any EF other comparable 3rd party. It like the other !D and 5D full frame bodies should not have any EF-S lenses attached or lenses from other brands that protrude deeply into the camera body. Such lenses are designed for bodies with cropped sensors.

Sigma DC, Tamron DI-ii and Tokina DX lenses for Canon are all EF mount. However, their image circle is designed for APS-C sized sensors. So, while they won't cause mirror collisions, they will result in varying degrees of vignetting when used on cameras with larger sensors.

Sigma's DG lenses are full-frame covering. These will work fine with your 1d2. Canon's EF lenses are good choices too.

some of the DC series lenses work with the intermediate cropped sensor size.


IE the sigma 30mm f1.4 just happens to cover the sensor.... interesting..... :)
