Buying a camera from Amazon

I'm not looking to buy a camera. I was interested to learn about my friend's XT to see how outdated the technology is. She was asking about new body vs lenses etc.

Anyway, I did a search and found several stores on Amazon selling these new for $899! I thought, no, that can't be, the websites must be old. Then I saw reviews about how great the camera is as new as last month!!!! This is a huge scam! These shops are taking advantage of people who know nothing about cameras. I guess it is the buyers' faults for not doing their homework but dang, an XT for a grand?

XT is not worth a grand new.

Heck I think it's discontinued in B&H. xD

It is amazing because that camera was revealed at PMA 2005, October as I recall.

No harm in folks trying to make a buck from the uneducated.

With Amazon, I will almost always filter my results so the only things that show up are actually sold by Amazon. They are doing a bad job policing some of the sellers on there now IMO, and some are clearly very predatory. I have ordered a couple of things from other sellers and have been pleased, but I vet them out first.

Me too - I trust Amazon but the Brooklyn camera crooks seem to have infiltrated Amazon.
