Seems that hardly anyone posts in this thread, so here's one more from the desert:

Great Henk,

The car trail just gives the finishing touch.

Your car?

Thanks John, it was actually an entry for the theme "Lonely Road" and the tracks are the focus of the picture. They are not my tracks. I just came back from a day driving in the desert when I noticed this against the low sun light.

Really great picture, Henk!

Amazingly how you can get something as simple as sand (and that's all there is in the pic) to reveil a true story. How the driver had to avoid those depts, that there was (probably) little wind, that he/she had either a compass or is very familiar with the desert since the direction of the trails is quite straight-lined,...

Love the black&white contrast.

GRAAG MEER VAN DAT !

Greetings,

Bjorn

There are more desert pictures on my website. (external link) The tracks were prettyeasy in this case as I 'm actually standing on tarmac, it was very close to the end of a track. Not always the case, but this was an easy drive.

This is an incredible photo, Henk. B & W is a great interpretation of this scene.

Peter

Hi Henk,

Another fine piece of artwork!

The stark contrast and emptiness lend themselves well to black & white. Of course, this would have been a fine shot in color as well.

The thing that really sets it off is the lighting from the sun. Waiting until the sunlight is coming in at an extreme angle ("The Golden Hour") pays dividends in revealing the texture evident in your composition. Very nice!

+ Andy

yes, its beautiful and curvy

the sun falling like that really makes it.
( that could be henks shadow taking the picture : )

wondered about those tracks.
they are too narrow to be from a jeep or any large truck which one usually sees in these places.
and imagine tarmac being so close to sand.
wonder what were the foundations like .
lovely picture
and interesting.

marie
(far distance is a bit pale ? )

regards, Marie
