Hi all,

I am eyeing a lens that I would like to buy, but I have a curious question..

Is it safe to spray/brush paint a Canon 70-200 2.8 non-IS? I mean, it looks ok but I am wondering about the lens seals.

You're looking at a 70-200 that someone painted? I'd look elsewhere.

better see the quality of the paint job. any pictures?
i've seen lenses being painted by professionals, and they last forever.

I would avoid one that was custom painted.

I wanna say no because you can see the scratches on the lens from it being painted and taped wrong..looks like body scratch marks or something.

How much does a camo-neoprene wrap cost? What was he thinking?

For a long time the US Marine Corps used cameras and lenses that were painted in a camo pattern. I believe they came from Canon that way and were painted before assembly...

It looks very much like the one for sale is one of those.

If that's the case, it changes things. I thought the guy did it with some model paint and a little brush.

And I was worried about a few normal scratches. ;)

That guy better watch out for the snipers focusing in on that bright white teleconverter.
