Friday my wife and I will be going to the Blue Angels Homecoming Show. In addition to the normal daytime show, there will also be a 3 hour nighttime show. The two things I am most interested in in the night show are the EF-18 demo and the Wall of Fire (http://www.naspairshow.com/niteshow.html (external link)). I am assuming the EF-18 will do a lot of full afterburner passes. Any suggestions on setup for shooting this. I don't expect I will have many passes to get it dialed in. I will be shooting with a T1i, 55-250IS for the EF-18, but probably switch to my 18-55 for the wall of fire.

Thanks in advance.

Most of these images have the EXIF intact, so that should give you a starting point. See what works & what doesn't & write down the starting point exposures for a guide.

Keep in mind that, if you shoot on the meter, your images will probably be over exposed because the meter things that it's daylight? For instance, look at some of the "Cruise" links in this: first shoot with moving cars need advice.
This is what I used for exposure: Need an exposure crutch?
And then I underexposed to get the "night" feeling. My suggestion to you would be to go out & shoot some evening traffic to get some practice before Friday, & good luck!

Thanks for the link. Were you handheld or on a tripod? The EXIF data is very helpful as I would have expected to shoot this in shutter priority with a slower shutter speed. I see you shot in Aperture mode pretty wide open. I don't have the fast lens that you do so will have to experiment some.

The wall of fire shot is what I really want to have dialed in since there will only be one try.

I didn't shoot the Pensacola ones.

The only way I'd shoot that is on manual exposure.
