So tonight i went shopping and got a couple of quotes for the Canon 60D Twin lens kit.. Here are the results:

TEDS CAMERAS
Canon 60D twin lens kit $1399
2x Sandisk Extreme HD 16GB SDHC 30mbs $160 @$80 each
2x HOYA 58mm UV HMC filter $60 @ &30 each
LowePro adventura 170 bag $60
4 Year extended warranty $100
Velbon cx-440 tripod $50

Comes to a total of around $1830

I then went to Harvey Norman and asked if they could beat it, this is their quote:

Canon 60D twin lens kit $1398
2x Sandisk Extreme HD 16GB SDHC 30mbs $150 @$75 each
2x HOYA 58mm UV HMC filter $60 @ &30 each
LowePro adventura 170 bag $47
Price matched Harvey Normans warranty which covers more than Teds warranty to $100 from $3**

Both of them are charging a lot for the memory:

The memory cards are insanely overpriced from both retailers you were at.

And if I piece together the same 60D (body only) and add the two lenses individually at B&H, it's still only about $1250.

Took a quick look at the Canon refurb store, and the body + those 2 Canon lenses is about $1200. I wouldn't call what you found a good deal.

Ditch the UV filters too. They aren't gonna help your IQ any, they only protect the front element. Which I advise you get a lens hood instead in the future anyways. Harvey's Normans quote is the way to go...

EDIT:

You can buy all that cheaper online if you just shop around. :S

IMO, neither of those are particularly good deals. On top of the memory being expensive and the included UV filters most likely being useless (cheap filters = poor images, frequently), the camera and both lenses can be had individually for $1238.95 from B&H right now. So, you'd be able to order the camera, both lenses and 2x 16gb sdhc for roughly (slightly less than) what either of those vendors are selling just the camera/lens combos for.

But there will be no extended warranty, which is why im not buying the camera online.

the only reason im purchasing uv filters is to protect the lens, a lens hood will be to big as im traveling overseas soon.

Buying the camera online will not have extended warranty thats the problem.. there is a duty free store in brisbane city selling the canon 60D twin lens kit for $1100 but i cant buy extended warranty so thats the problem

Much like most electronics, the extended warranty is a complete and utter waste of money. If it fails, before you're ready for a trade up, it's going to be in the first year (which is covered by the manufacturer automatically) so you wouldn't be paying for that anyway. Spend the extra $100 on gear and order from the people that are actually not ripping you off on the rest of the package.

OP, have you seen the lens hood for the 18-55? It's itty bitty, and frankly worthless. No way would I buy it. The hood for the 55-250, when reversed, takes up hardly any additional space.

And now that I see we are talking Australia, I have no idea if it's a good deal or not as I (and I suspect everyone else up to this point) were probably talking in US $'s.

Wouldnt you rather throw in $100 and have that peace of mind for a whole 5yrs that if the camera decides to fail your covered?
