Hey forum,

I posted something on here a couple of days ago asking for some help with managing my budget. After some consideration, I think I'd like to upgrade both my camera and add some lenses to my collection. Obviously, I'll need some extra cash for this to work so I'd like to sell some of my equipment. I am not sure how much my equipment is worth so I'm asking for your professional opinions.

These are things that I would consider selling if I can get enough to help my budget out:

Canon 400d (XTi)- Near-perfect condition, no noticeable blemishes
Canon EF 35-80mm f/4-5.6 III- Perfect condition (Not a fan)
Battery Grip for XTi- paid ~$110
Charger & 2 Batteries
8GB Sandisk Compact Flash card.

Thanks for your help,

Benjamin

IMO, for what it's worth, a fair price for everything would be $300

Just going by ebay lately

XTi plus batteries $230
grip $40
lens $30
CF card $15

I'd say your total is around $300

TBH, I'd keep the Xti and try and buy a decent lens instead of replacing the whole kit. The body is still decent. You could even try the more modern kit lens 18-55 is ii for about $120

Thanks for the detailed breakdown. I have been seeking out a 1d classic to pair with the 70-200 f4 that I will be getting soon. I don't have enough dough for two bodies. What do you suggest?

your Xti will have better image quality than the original 1d. I toyed with the same idea considering my current body and the 1Dc are about the same value used. In the end, I went with the body with better high ISO images vs the 8fps and AF systm of the 1D. If you use ISO values above 200, the 1D will let you down. If you only use ISO 100, then it's worth a try I guess

Lately, AI Servo hasn't been doing It's job and I am getting OOF once in a million shots. I don't know if it is the 9-point system or a focusing problem, but its driving me crazy. I figure, with 45-points and 8+ fps I'll be getting my shot. Maybe I'm crazy but I'd rather get the picture and have lesser quality than to totally miss the shot.

OOF once in a million? That's great! It's also very likely that something else is causing your issue, can you post a pic with EXIF that you think is poor?

Once in a million. I doubt you would do better with a 1D4.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
