S95 or S100, maybe the SX230. None of them use AAs like the A620 did. Only reason I moved on from the A620 is because I wanted the SDHC card capability of the A630. Now I most often use the SX230 as my P&S, with an SX-1 as fall-back. I'm tempted to move on to the S100 though for the RAW (which the SX230 doesn't have).

The RAW capability of the S100 is really nice! I was going thru some photos this morning, and my S100 missed the WB, but with 1 click in DPP, problem solved. Of course there are other reasons the RAW is a very nice feature, but just an example I thought I would share.

The A620 was a one of a kind camera.
They don't make them like that anymore.
There's no small compact by Canon with a flip LCD,
except for the much larger and heavier G12.

For best image quality & compactness - go for the S100.
If you prefer spending less - the S95 is also a great option.
If you want a larger zoom range - the SX230 is the best.
For a truly slim camera, either the ELPH 100 or ELPH 300 are fine.
