Sold my 7D and can’t decide between the 5DII + 24-70L or 5DII + 24-105L + 50 1.4 (same budget for both kit).
I was used with my 7D and Sigma 30mm for inside shots and movies, so the 50mm on FF will be very comparable. I already bought the 24-70L from whitesell here on the forums and it is like a new one. I found the 24-70 heavier but more versatile in low light. I would like to know for those who own both, is there a huge difference in IQ between both lens ?
I was also thinking about the following lens options: 17-40f4L / 50f1.4 / 70-200f4L
But this would be a bit over my actual budget...

So, here are my lens options for the 5DII, which would you choose ? :
1 : 24-70f2.8L
2 : 24-105f4L / 50f1.4
3 : 17-40f4L / 501.4 / 70-200 f4L

There was a thread just started on here discussing the difference betweent he 24-105 and 24-70 and the benefits/cons of each. The 24-70 is nice to double as a macro and to have the speed/shallow dof but but the 24-105 is versatile, longer, lighter and has IS but is slower.

For me, 3

I have 24-105 which is nice, but I'm looking at getting a more extensive range now.
I'll be selling it to part fund a 70-200, 50 1.4 and 17-40

To me, your question is what lens will you buy first --- ultimately you'll probably buy them all or something equivalent. :)

For my needs, I would start with option #2. The 24-105 is a really good compromise. The 50/1.4 is an excellent 50mm prime that lets you play with shallow DOF which is something you'll really want to experiment with on a FF sensor.

Option #1 is tempting because the 24-70L is currently an "end-game" zoom if you are building a three zoom f/2.8 set. But, it is big and heavy. According to lensrentals.com, it also is a lens that can suffer from degradation over use.

I'm banking on a new 24-70 version coming out within a year.

I don't like option #3. Too much lens swapping when you are going with the compromise of zoom lens. If I was doing that much lens swapping, I rather go with primes (e.g., 35/2, 50/1.4, and 85/1.8, 35L, etc.) for low light and shallow DOF. That will make all that lens swapping worth it. But, I'll probably have the 24-105 as well, just in case.

There is no equivalent for fast apertures. Since you relied on your Sig 30 for inside shots, you can judge yourself if 2.8 will be enough. I find if it comes to low light indoor shooting (without flash), 2.8 is a bit tricky (meaning usually not fast enough). So, if this is important to you, I suggest option #2 or #3.

I will order the 5DII w/24-105 and do my own comparaison with the 24-70 , then I will sell the one I used less.
