The game will last 7 Days and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #392."

Ends Friday 9pm GMT.

Finally took a break from Skyrim , so thought I would give this a go. May get some food and sleep too.

I'll try..... trying to learn the art of post processing.

I removed the flagpole and what looks to be a building (white area) just behind the trees.
After that, just a dodge and burn with a 128, 128, 128 layer added in elements 10. I painted with true black on the mountains, then a little lighter on the trees, and the lightest in the foreground. I guess that's my attempt at adding depth to the image.

Only problem is I think I need to calibrate monitors. Definitely looks different on the two I have on my desk.

Opened in PS Raw editor, clicked auto adjust, and added a slight s-curve, sent to PSCS3.
Opened my shot of the clouds in DPP, clicked the linear box, input sharpening set to 3, converted/saved as tiff.
Opened clouds in PS, cut a selection, cropped to 1024px wide.
Added canvas to the top of Nigel's to make room for the clouds, added clouds and used the blend-if sliders for blending, layer set at 56% fill. Clone on the clouds a little to hide line from the fill setting.
Cloned some tree tops at the upper right of Nigel's photo for appearance.
Selected the whole upper half of the photo just above the water line, crop image. (to get rid of original water and rocks)
Added white canvas (200%) to the bottom, flattened and saved as jpeg to get ready to run it through "Sqirlz Water Reflection 2.6" (external link) software.
Saved out the frames for the animation and pulled frame 1 into PS for some selective color adjustments.

just for the fun of!

IMAGE: http://i396.photobucket.com/albums/pp49/dougle/POTN/nigelslake-1.gif

Here is somewhat of the result of the Sqirls Reflection software.
By somewhat I mean, the animation produced by the software was pretty good and all but it also animated some pixels in the clouds and the mountains which gave a flickering while viewing.
By saving all the animation frames out as jpeg files I was able to load them in PS, make adjustments with masks, and run them through PS's animation process.
The program has some settings that I didn't try, like perspective and others, until after I already completed what is shown above. The perspective option gives the water a more realistic effect.
Sorry for the large file size:cry:

Sorry I'm a bit late folks - here goes.

T2 Heavy Shop. I like the extra detail in the sky and the hills.
rpaul. MY kind of increased saturation - would probably held back the green a bit myself - personal taste. Thanks for the detailed explanation as well.
08photog. Simple edit that works.
highergr0und. I can't see what you've got on your monitor but this edit looks quite de-saturated on mine which doesn't really catch the autumnal colours of the shot.
Douglas. Looks like you had an excellent playtime with this one. The purple, heathery look in the hills set a different tone for the picture. I like the light on the tree to the left of and on the shoreline to the right of the boathouse, that works really well. The textures on the waterline are very different and thanks for the software link.
Lore. Nice touch with the boat to fill up and also I like your sky and new reflection.

Difficult between rpaul and Douglas but the lighting on Douglas' entry wins for me this week. Over to you!
