I use a Sandisk one (Firewire Imagemate) and it works very well. I don't have anything to compare it to, so can't say if it is better or worse than any other. It's very compact and light, but was quite expensive. It's only firewire 400, so not astonishingly fast.

They don't seem to be advertised very much these days, so I don't know if they are still made.

yea usb would be the more popular one. usb 2.0 is pretty darn fast at 480mbits/s but still tests show that even firewire 400 is a little faster. so i dont know.

I got a Lexar firewire reader a year or two ago. Its pretty fast and I havent had any problems. I think B&H sells a new version of it. Also, USB 2.0 is comparable in speed and I think they might be cheaper too.

I haven't had any experience with card readers, but with the video camera transferring really large files (many gb) firewire smokes usb 2.0.

I think the reason it isnt as popular is because main stream crap computers don't support firewire.

I would personally like a firewire card reader, although I'm happy with just the usb on the 350d at the moment, does 1gb fast enough for me.

hmmm, my Sun Blade must be crap as it only has usb sockets. :p but my playstation2 has a firewire port, so it's a good computer. ;)

even Apple is shifting focus to usb 2.0... iPods now ship with usb cable and you can't even power the gen5 iPods with firewire anymore. at least my powerbook has a firewire 400 & 800 socket...

Anyone of you knows if there is any card reader that could be used with ipod also.

the normal card reader usb can connect with a computer and laptop, and with ipod ??? is possible??? you know some way ?? any card reader that could do it???

because ipod could be a good storage device for it's price

i know for the old generation there is a cards reader or connector from apple or belkin
but i do not know the speed of the tranfers.

but what would be good is a card reader that could connect both computer and ipod........

the old readers were USB 1.0 speed - v e r y _s l o w. the newer Apple one is faster than USB 1.x speed, but still relatively slow. but there are no other card readers, as such.
