Geling and Umbrellas

I have a wedding today and portraits will be done indoors. I will need to allow for a lot of tungsten-based ambient light. I generally do not gel, but will want to today.

For portraits, I use either white shoot-through and silver reflective umbrellas. Will the color still look right if I gel and use either of these? Is one type of umbrella better suited for a geled flash than the other?

Day has gone by, did you gel? Curious myself, have an indoor wedding shoot New Years eve as the second photographer and was wondering if I should gel to match the tungsten ambient lights.

No, I also posted this question over in the wedding forum where I'm more active. The general thought there was that the color of light is the color of light and it shouldn't matter whether I shoot through white or bounce off silver, but it will require experimentation.

Not having had time to play around before the shoot, I decided to play safe and go with what I know; over-powering the ambient.

Yes.
All modifiers will change the color of the light a bit. Most likely a white shoot-through will warm the light a bit more then a silver umbrella. Not an issue I'd say.
