So im a 49ers superfan, and finally got a chance to be the 49ers photog assistant for the week vs the Redskins. This was a dream come true and in the process of carrying his camera from here to there and picking his brain, i got to use my camera 50D with a 70-200L 2.8 lens on the sidelines right next to him. Im not very good at editting so here is pretty much my shots i took straight from the camera. LMK what yall think.

Rookie Aldon Smith :

ty, ya that was my 60th game attended since 2007 and over the yrs i would ask him about camera settings, or joke with him about making me his assistant, and it finally came true.

Next game im going to is the Baltimore thxgiving game.. So that brings up another question, being a night game, i have Row 2 in the endzone and they have a 6in Lens Policy so ill be unable to take my 70-200L in with out risk of being turned away, think a 50-250mm would suffice and at least get me through the week with decent pics?

Looks like you did pretty good. The more you shoot, the better you get. Hopefully you can assist more throughout the season.

your WB is off. Your whites look pretty blue to me.
I'd toss #4 and #7:
#4 has a redskins player in the way and 7 is taken from the wrong side of the field.
I'd crop #3 vertically on just the clothesline.

yea that wasnt my best photo of the kicker. I havent ever messed with the WB, maybe you can edit it to show me what they could look like? Thx for your advice, i can definately see were cropping around just brooks vertically would make it much better it would take the eyes away from looking at Beck.

Good stuff. On No. 1, it looks like the focus point wasn't on his face. His jersey is much sharper than his face is. For the night game you're talking about, you might wanna check out a 200mm 2.8. Little bit older L lens but it's going to be under your 6 inch rule and on your camera you'll have the range of a 300mm with the crop factor.

elrey2375 welcome to the forum!
But, do keep in mind that the 1.6 crop factor is just a "crop" and not a "zoom". So his 200mm is still 200mm but it's just cropped with no magnification.

yea i see what your saying... As far as the lens your referring to.. I am not looking to spend very much money as 90% of the games i goto i use my 70-200L 2.8 its just this one week that i cant use it, so seeing if there was a cheap option of a lens to get .

there will never been a "cheap option" without getting a cheap lens. I have said this before to others on the forum; if you are in the stands for an nfl game, do not bring a camera expecting to take photos of the on-field action. Just dont. You wont like the results and neither will anyone else.
Here is a thread talking about just that. 99% of the responses were to try and get the OP to not have ANY expectations of shooting on-field action while in the stands.

if you're just going to use it that one time, why not just rent the lens? I've used lensrentals and borrowlenses with great success.
