A local Seattle news station is publishing a 2012 calendar with the focus on weather. They asked everyone to submit photos of different conditions and from various times of the year.

My photo was chosen for the May main photo. I'm pretty stoked about it as I've only just gotten back into photography less than a year ago after letting my old AE-1 sit for about 20 years.

It doesn't necessarily showcase any special weather phenomenom, but anyone that's spent a spring in Western Washington will recognize the cool damp gray weather with the lush green surroundings.

Yep, got the bonus too as they have the May full page as a sample on the back cover, so it's actually in the calendar twice :)

Goes to show, even a blind hog finds an acorn every once in a while;)

A free calendar and 20% off on any others I want to buy. I think I'll keep my day job.

Along the trail to Twin Falls, just before the bridge that spans the canyon. Officially it's called Olallie State Park, but it's known as Twin Falls State Park, just off of I-90 in the North Bend area. Two ways to get to the falls, 1 about a 4 mile round trip hike with some good ups and downs, or (we figured a later) a shorter maybe 1 mile roundtrip hike.

I believe you're in Issaquah, so it's only a few miles away in North Bend.

(I mapped it in Flickr)

Yup; I wondered if that's what that was :) It's a fun, little hike

Have you made your way out to Franklin Falls (further up 90) or Wallace Falls (out by Goldbar)?

I know of them but haven't made it to them yet. There are so many incredible places around here and so close in (which is good and bad). The I-90 corridor is full of great places, especially if you get off the beaten track, even just a little.

Getting back into photography has been a great excuse (like you really need one) to go and explore. Started out strong this year, but life has gotten in the way

There sure are! I'd recommend getting out and checking out Franklin Falls (see my first visit here). It's a relatively short trip but a neat little fall situated just under I-90.
