Last as usual:o . Here's some shots from me from the Rallycross at Croft on Sunday.

There was an excellent entry in the Division 1 (Supercar) category.
#1 Kenneth Hansen - current European Champion (signified by the 'E' on his door

#2 The current Polish champion Jacek Ptaszek in a Toyota Corolla

#3 As the Swedes were across, The Super National (Supermodified) category had some interesting machines. Here's a Volvo 242 Evo

#4 BMW M3 running in the same class, and taking a very wide line on the loose.

and it was nice to have some Autumn sunshine, for a short while anyway.

#5 The Stock Hatch class gave some good racing all day.

#6 Great Britain's Alan Tapscott in the Division 1A / Rallycross Super Series 2000 was unstopable. Here he is leading on his way to victory in the final.

On to the Division 1 final. Christopher Evans had won all of his heats, but most of us believed that Kenneth Hansen was just biding his time and waiting for the finals. They lined up alongside each other, with Evans having qualified on pole. From the start, Evans took the lead as the pack headed into the first corner (#7). I didn't use a flash here (honest!) - I think the 'red eye' is his gear change up lights reflecting in his glasses!

#8 Kenneth Hansen chased hard, but there was nothing he could do about Evans who went on to win by a reasonably comfortable margin.

As you can see from the last two shots, the light in the finals was pretty poor. These shots were taken at ISO800 and deliberately underexposed by about a full stop to let me use a shutter speed of 1/320s. Obviously there's no substitute for nailing your exposure when you take the shot, but if you have to you can get some good results shooting raw with some careful post processing.

Anyway, hope you have enjoyed the shots. As usual, any comments or feedback would be most welcomed.

Cheers,

Simon.

A nice set of photos, as normal, well caught considering the conditions.

Thanks Alan. Conditions were pretty unpleasant in the morning, but improved as the day wore on.

Cheers,

Simon.

Nice shots Simon, top shot for me has to be the one of Evans leading the pack, looks like he is puffing on a cigar;) Like the 2 Hansen shots also

Cheers

Thanks Paul. #7 is one of my favourites as well. Now if I could have just got Hansen to be a couple of feet to the left so you could see him a bit more, it would have been perfect. Instead he decided to defend his line and tuck in right behind Evans - can't blame him really:lol:

Cheers,

Simon

Thanks Ian. Evans must have known it was in the bag, and decided to light up the victory cigar early!

Cheers,

Simon.

Hi Simon.

Do you have any photographs of Car 618 Blue and Red Peugeot 205 Stockhatch, or 324 Silver S2000 Peugeot 205?
Both blew up in their first heats, photos would be great!

Thankyou.

Cheers Gavin. As I said before, #7 would have been perfect with Hansen (red Citroen immediately behind the yellow Opel of Evans) had been a foot or so to the left as you look at the shot. You would have had all of the main contenders clearly in view then. Still he was defending his line into the corner and making sure he had an inside line!

Simon.
