Hello, everyone!

I have a problem with off camera flash. When I shoot with it, I always wind up with frames where the subject is WAY to blown out, the frame it white, ect...

I have tried all the settings I know how, from Manual, (adjusting the shutter, Ap, ISO all the way around with no good results) Program, Ap mode with nothing close to good. I even thought with turning the power down on my 450 EX flash, putting a gary fong collapsable diffuser on it, it's still too harsh.

The only thing I can figure is distance, but I just need some help with OCF...

Thank you for taking the time to read/comment...

How are you triggering the flash?

Okay, so you know thats a manual set of triggers. Your flash needs to be in M mode, (not slave mode) and then you adjust the power using the ratios.

Yes, in ETTL mode off camera with manual triggers its going to fire full power every time. Switch to M mode and then dial in the power you want 1/1 is full power 1/2 is half (duh) goes down to 1/124 I think on that flash. To use ETTL mode you need a different triggering method.
