Greetings

I need to replace my wife's laptop with a Win7 machine for almost strictly web browsing. Mac is not an option because of the couple of work related programs she needs to run.

Currently she is using a Toshiba satellite L25-S119 and it's features (5" screen size, etc.) works for her (17" screen would be nice).

Over the last year, the machine has slowed down and the sites she visits have become problematic. I've done a complete reinstall of the OS, etc., but still, she says there is a noticeable difference when compared to my desk top using the same Wifi and internet connection.

Anyway, she lets me have my camera fix, so the least I can do is come up with a new computer for her.

Looking at this, she doesn't need or need a touch pad or large hard drive:

Yip, a single core Celeron M is going to struggle with the current level of content on many websites.

Anything running an i3 would be a very capable replacement, and something with an i5 would give a good level of future proofing.

They all come with nice touchpads now (some are better than others) and HDD sizes will vary depending on whats on special etc.

Nothing wrong with the Toshiba you linked too.

i3 or i5 would be an excellent upgrade from the celeron she is using now. Also, consider at least 3-4 gb of ram. The one you linked should be fine :)

Hey you guys,

Thanks for your input you guys. Amazingly enough the local Staples Office Supply Store has a sale on the Toshiba C655-S5343 for $400.
