The Iowa is currently tied up at the Port of Richmond (California) getting prepped for its tow down the coast to Los Angeles where it will be turned into a museum. It's not easy to get close to at the moment, but I have heard they may open it up briefly while tied up here until January.

Happy Veteran's Day!

Here she is beign towed from Suisun Bay into Richmond. That is the town of Tiburon behind her and the mountain is Mt. Tamalpis in Marin County.

isn't it going to be a permanent museum in los angeles or san diego or somewhere?

Glad it's not being turned into razor blades.
Awesome piece of military history. Still a shame to see it not in service.

I wish they'd fire those guns one last time, even without shells. such a shame its retired, what a magnificent ship!
