Looking for a prime, mainly for movies on the 5DII.

50 f1.4 vs 35 f2, I prefer the focal lenght of 35mm vs 50mm but prefer the USM and f1.4 of the 50mm...

Shooting movies you'll be setting your Ap and will be using manual focus so USM isn't really a plus or minus. Just like in photos, the speed of the lens will mostly be used for creative DOF uses, not what you'll always be using. IMO, the FL you want will be more important than the slight speed increase from 2 to 1.4.

The 35/2 is going to be a pain to focus for video - the focus ring is kind of small

That'd be my choice for a general lens. It also flares amazingly!!

If you are serious about video, you should take a look at the $500 Samyang/Bower/Rokinon manual focus 35mm 1.4

I can't get over the fact that Rokinon lenses look like they're from a Sears catalog circa 1983

Definitely a great lens for video work ( and photography if you don't mind not having AF ) :)

I find for video work it's just easier using a manual lens. I have a couple of manual focus Praktica lenses .. a 135mm f2.8, and a 35mm f2.8 with a M42 screw to EOS adapter. Cheap & sharp.

My Gear List :p
