Hello all,

I want to buy a new 7D, but what about the focus issues, do they still exists like when the cam get out a few years ago?

Greetings!

Yes. There are still people who don't take the time to read the manual/familiarize themselves with the 7D's settings and resultantly have focus issues. Most of them have nothing to do with the camera itself.

Almost all "focus issues" are really user error. You really do have to spend some time learning the new focus system though, or else you will likely have the dreaded "focus issues"

You tell me. Most of these pics were shot with the 7d/300 f/2.8. There some with MK III and 70-200. Part of the game I had the 1.4x on the 300. Wow. I was too close on one touchdown pass that came straight at me. :-(

You can spend a lot of time worrying about focus issues or you can get the camera, read the manual, check out some videos and shoot-a-lot!.
Here is the link to the bidistrict playoff game I shot Saturday.
Note: 1 Per webmaster request, these are uncropped images. Just a little sharpening. He takes care of post processing when orders come in.

There are more than just a few of us here who have had legitimate focus issues with the 7D. I totally accepted the old "it's user error" to a point I came close to expiring my warranty. Don't fall victim to it! Anyone seriously considering the 7D should download the manual, watch the many tutorials online and read some of the books available in advance of a purchase! You'll be much more prepared to successfully determine and deal with a bad one within the retailer's return period.
If you DO get one with a focus issue like I did and it's outside the return window.....that's only half the problem. The other half is getting it repaired without a major hassle and in my case months of incompetence.
But hey maybe there are those here and elsewhere who will underwrite/guarantee it for ya! Now THAT'S having the courage of one's convictions!
Do your homework!

I've had mine for a couple of months and was worried about this before deciding to take the plunge. Can honestly say the only focusing problems I've had were solved when I took the UV filters off my lenses. Works really well with all my lenses now.

Love mine bought last January. Just depends on the individuals preference and style. There will always be units with problems with any company.

If you are so worried don't buy it. If the above responses doesn't convince you I don't know what will. 7D is a wonderful camera and its in 'Pro'sumer class for a reason. What were you hoping to hear? "Buy it, if there is anything wrong we will replace it for you"?
