I think the focus is a little slow for most sports, but if you can keep up, the lens will render sharp shots. Contrary to what has been stated above, this lens does just fine at infinity.

Thanks, Hank It's a very awkward lenght for field sports and also a bit long for basketball if you sit along the baseline. If you can sit the proper length away it might be good for indoor sports though.
