I'm currently planning a 2-week, or slightly longer (14-18 days) photo trip around Morocco, and am looking for any expressions of interest (since it's usually better and cheaper going with a number of like-minded people).
It will involve one or more private vehicles with driver, but will not be a guided tour - the aim is to provide the best possible photographic opportunities by being in the right places at the right time (e.g. Ait Benhaddou at sunrise and sunset), not to be rushed from attraction to attraction in broad daylight like a typical tour group, with little time for photography. There will be plenty of time to independently explore souks, medinas and other attractions - the vehicle and driver are primarily to allow us to get from city to city, and to interesting places at interesting times, without the constraints of public transport.
The trip will either finish on Jan 27 or 28, or begin on Feb 11 or 12, as I will be in Ethiopia's Danakil Depression (Dallol and Erta Ale volcanoes) from Jan 29-Feb 10 (if anyone's interested in visiting Venus and hell in a single trip, let me know...). The weather at that time of the year will be temperate, with some warm days, as well as cold nights, particularly away from the coast. On the upside, snow in the High Atlas, visible from Marrakech, is an amazing sight!
At present, I plan to include:
Fes
Meknes/Volubilis
Middle Atlas
Ouarzazate
Ait Benhaddou
Todra Gorge/Dades Gorge
Zagora
Tamegroute
Sahara Desert (overnight on the dunes)
High Atlas
Marrakech
Essaouira
The itinerary is flexible, though, and can be altered to fit the interests of the group.
Morocco is literally brimming with photo opportunities - from the souks and medinas to the mountains and dunes, there are opportunities for everything from street photography to landscapes. I have been there before, but am planning this trip with better gear and a more independent itinerary.
If anyone is interested, let me know - it's cheaper with a group!
