Hey guys, I just recently got laid off from my main job here in Seattle.

I might have a chance to work in Redwood City, CA. Just south of San Fran.

Would I be downgrading, upgrading, or just something equal and new?

I speak mainly of landscape photographic opportunities for that is all I do as a secondary career now. :D

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Job is a job.
Get paid, and start to looking for the even better one all time even you're still employed.
Should never get too comfortable with your current chair.

Good luck...

BTW, Redwood is not Area 51 or middle or nowhere. And you still can go back Seattle later on if you want.

Canon 5D3 + Zoom (EF 17-40L, 24-105L & 28-300L, 100-400L II) & Prime (24L II, 85L II, 100L, 135L & 200 f/2.8L II; Zeiss 1,4/35)

I turned down the opportunity for now... :(

BUT! Since I am a video game designer with a wide base of game dev knowledge, I decided to start making iPhone games and apps.

If that pans out, I can work from anywhere, even area 51? haha

If not, I guess I can get another corporate job. The bad thing about working for the corporations is that they expect 100% loyalty from employees, but will not even think twice about screwing us over. I hate working hard and being fired because someone else can't do their job...

I'm late to the party (too late, by the sounds of it) but I'd say that it's a lateral move WRT the photography, at least.

From what I know of Seattle there are lots of nice places within a reasonable drive (1-5 hours) to do landscapes. CA has at least as many almost all of which are totally different.

From Redwood City you're about 4 hours from Tahoe, Yosemite and several other great vistas.

You're also an hour or so away from wine country and the nearest beach with tons of other views between SF and LA all within a few hours drive.

It's not usually as lush and green as Washington state, but it's usually not raining, either. ;)

Which game company were you looking at, if you don't mind me asking?
