Last weekend at the Grand Canyon

The wife and I went up to the grand Canyon last weekend, and while she slept in, I got up to check out the sunrise on Saturday.

These underlit clouds lasted only minutes:

Good shots. I was there last Friday and only had a brief watery sun in the morning. unfortunately the weather followed Me to Monument Valley for the weekend.

Nice work--really like the first one. I've always found the GC hard to photograph. Last time I went didn't even take a camera, and I'm a prolific shutterman.

It's a shame the nice weather we had on Saturday didn't make it up to monument Valley - Friday was pretty grey on our drive up - and we took the "scenic route" (Payson- Strawberry - Happy Jack).

I know what you mean about taking pictures of the Canyon - it seems like every view is something you could as easily buy off the postcard rack at Babbit's.. I sure wish I had brought my camera some of the times I hiked in before sunrise..

Nice series; I especially like that sky in #1. It sure paid off to get up early for that one; you don't get a nice partially cloudy sky like that every day. I am always amazed on how fast the lighting changes at that time of the morning.
