this is the smaller 5.5" deflectors i have

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Softlite.html (external link)

the only other deflectors i have are the older metal ones that are bigger @ 6.5"

Thanks Martin, I saw those and was confused (again !) but I think Rob has cleared it up in that it appears the (really) small ones might be discontinued !

The ones I have are 5.5" as well. Both the ones that came with the 17" Minisoft beauty dish and the ones that came with the deep octa.

Rob - out of curiousity did you ever test the solid white translucent deflectors in comparison to the silver deflectors for background lighting? I imagine that both would knock down the hotspot fairly well.

The reason I ask is that I'm considering the Varistar reflector but only have one silver deflector and a couple of the white deflectors. Just wondering if it would be worth it to pick up another deflector set when I submit my order.

Thanks!

I also have the 5.5" ones, same as you linked earlier. They actually measure 5.75" diameter. Just thinking the bigger ones may not work as well the smaller ones Rob has been using. Guess we'll find out soon.

If you're not doing anything you could always try the large deflectors in those reflectors and see how even a spread of light you get* !!

:p :p :p

Austen.

Ya, but what time would it be in Newfoundland? Aren't they offset by a 1/2 hour?

8:10 Wednesday (EST) - Time in New York, NY, USA

9:10 Wednesday (AST) - Time in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada

23:40 Wednesday (CST) - Time in Adelaide SA

Seems Adelaide is the only one with a 30 minute off-set :D :D !!

I'd say it was almost bedtime but some may then accuse me of being an "Old man"
