I just got back from Dubai yesterday and I'm certainly poorer. Has anyone here been there? The place is designed to rob you of money... forget Vegas, I'm going to Dubai from now on...

I've never been to Monaco. But Dubai is all about shopping and experiences. You want to race a car? They have a race track for that. You want to fly in a helicopter, they've got that. Want to spend a weekend in the desert with just you and your camel jockey, they've got it.

The place is full of rather rich folks that drive cars i simply dream about... At the airport it has one of the largest private jet/helicopter sections I've ever seen.

Pretty darn impressive i must say. Especially considering just a decade ago, you'd be hard pressed to say any of these things.

No Elinchrom there though. I think it's a Broncolor sort of city :)

When you're visiting... come a wee bit down south to Oman and enjoy the same sorta things with less hassle and much more peacefully. Oh wait... we don't have a racetrack, no helicopter, 14 year old came jockeys and... no Broncolor

Nevermind... stick to Dubai :p

You kidding me? I'd come to Oman in a heartbeat. I hear they have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Are you native?

Not native, but been here pretty much all the 29 years of my life. Some untouched beaches here but anything that's still nice is FAR from the city area, about 5 hours drive minimum (no other means of access). There's not much left on the inhabited stretches as they keep getting taken up by construction projects attracting foreign investment.

I recently visited a not so far rocky beach in Fins, about 2 hours away called Fins.

Better than the beaches are the rocky landscapes. Go up to Jebel Shams, Jebel Akhdar or the lesser known Salmah Plateau and you get breathtaking views from 2000m and higher. David Nightingale is leading a 5 day photo tour around Oman next month.

Dubai is an awesome place, and we do have elinchrom here
so as every other thing and yes its kinda like vegas (minus casinos) + disney land with lots of sand.
Its tax free but you end up spending alot here.

What I like if you are driving on the road, think of a car and within 5-10 min you'll see it driving or parked some where :)

BTW i am researching strip boxes with grids to add to my arsenal of modifiers these days
