Dude,
You need to tone it down. You've clipped her entire face. Try reducing exposure by about 1 2/3 stops next time.

QUOTED IMAGE

It might be because the beauty dish 22 inch, was about 3 feet away and to the left side, that, and I suck! Thanks for the info, i will work on it asap! my wife thinks the diagram is hilarious xD

every one grows through the early days of shooting disasters.. but the suggestion of light meter is one i would second... you're half way there with quality lights, so i'd suggest that even an inexpensive meter should be a priority purchase before any other lenses or lights. ( I don't want to say that too loud, though. Some never use them and do quite well... but one you start using it, you'll never turn back...)

i was trying to make it a habit to stick with lucky f/13 lol maybe i would do better dropping the ISO to 50, and upping the aperture speed to 250, and maybe moving the dish further back! i guess not having the ability to use a stand is killing me :( oh well, i'll need to learn to adjust, plus my left arm will get a serious workout know!

Read this, you can use histogram as improvised light meter (quite simple for single light). :) Of course getting a real light meter will help a lot more.

Thank you very much for the suggestions! I am on the verge of breaking down and getting a dang light meter! I think I would benefit a whole lot more off of it according to my feedbacks here, and my own sight :( I may have to sell the Elinchrom 600RX, and just purchase one that isn't missing the most crucial part!

Took my RX 1200 outside to test it in the full sunlight and see what it can do and also learning to get it to work. (i can never get the skyports to work reliably for some reason)

The sun was rather high and strong shadows where available.
