Hi Adrian

I've had intermittant issues with my Skyports when it comes to triggering, never power adjustment. Some times it takes turning off the flash head (built in skyport recievers in BXRi500 and DLite 4s). I've been lucky for the last few months with no issues.

What modifier were you using for the image?

Would you like to buy a vowel?
Go ahead, spin the wheel.

Looks like you've got plenty of power there Adrian, was that at full power ?

Also, What did you use for your power source, were you close to a mains supply power socket, or do you have portable power ?

Cheers,

Austen.

Hi, I got a question about the flash power of bxri 500, at the strobe light itself, it can be adjusted flash power from 2.3 - 3.3 - 4.3 - 5.3 - 6.3 which is 4 stop, but in user manual it is mentioned this strobe is 5 stop which is suppose like this 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 1/16. I am confusing, anyone to help me please. thanks in advance! :D

As I understand it, or I may be totally wrong, all the Elinchrom strobes put out the same number of photons when the power level setting is the same ?

IE, At (as an example) a DLite 2 at setting (again, an example) of 3.3 may give a camera setting of f/8, while the strobe is cranking out near max power.

Setting a RX600 at 3.3 gives exactly the same amount of light (f/8 in this example) but the strobe is working "less hard".

Setting a RX1200 at the same 3.3 also gives the same f/8, yet the strobe is only idling along in second gear, to use a metaphor.

As I've always been led to believe ? ? ?

Austen.

....yes providing they are all using the same modifier or modifiers with the the same level of light loss.

So just a quick update on my speedring, I have to say at the moment I am not impressed with Bogen Imaging/Manfrotto Distribution. I just called to check the status and per the delivery confirmation they have had it now for a week and they still have not even logged it in. The lady on the phone said they should have it logged in by the end of the week. I think it's a bit crazy that it takes 2 weeks just to get it logged in. Sorry for the rant it's just the 53" octa is one of my most used soft boxes and both B&H and Adorama list the speedring as discontinued, so I can't even buy a replacement while I wait for Bogen to stop dragging there ass.

Yeah I find it kind of crazy that it had to be sent in for an estimate, I would understand for a strobe where there could be many things wrong. But for something like a speedring they should just have some preset estimates or flat rate, it's XX amount you send it in, they send you a referb replacement and thats it.

Oh, okay it's not just me.

I emailed them twice about getting a quadra head slot cap replacement (I managed to lose one :p) and a replacement for a Style 1200 mounting bolt, but haven't heard back at all.
I'll just call in and try to figure it out, but anybody have any estimate for how much those might be?

Yeah they are awful on the emails. One email on one website goes no where. Another site has another email that works. Just plain crazy
