So for the final update on my speedring, I just got off the phone with bogan imaging and they are replacing the speedring free of charge. I have to say that while their check in process is a bit lagging, and them having it for almost 2 weeks before it was logged in is a bit disconcerting. It's hard to be mad when they replace a 3 year old speedring for free. Also I do have to say that the few times I called, I was never put on hold for any period of time, and when they said they would call me back they did promptly. Joan from the service department was also very friendly and always answered my questions honestly. So I have to say that while I wish it could have been a bit faster I am quite please with the service overall.

yeah calling will net the best results it seems. Email will be the worst haha

Point one at the background and one as key with a reflector down low. Get the subject as far from the BG as you can, don't nuke it.

I get your point. and after read on zack arias web, i am exactly having the room space problem. he mentioned at least to have 20'x20' space while my tiny room just 11'x9' although have same height. challenging! :D thanks dude for the recommendation!

That's exactly the room size I'm working with.

Just quick question for you guys

Wondering what method you would use to balance a Ranger RX with tungsten lighting?

I've only really used my Ranger of a day time where Im only mixing with daylight, but Ive got an evening shoot coming up, and the lights on the location are all tungsten.

I'll be shooting through a 135cm octo.

I've considered a gold deflector to add a bit of colour to the flash, albeit, probably a totally different colour and may make things worse.

Or would you suggest a suitable gel? In which case, how are you mounting gels with the Ranger heads?

And my other option is to shoot with flash uncorrected, adjust the WB to compensate for the tungsten lighting, and then use the local adjustment brush in LR4 to warm the WB on the model.

Get some CTO gels, they are cheap and you can get them 1/1, 1/2, 1/4 and so on. Useful to get sheet of each and cut them up for the size you need. :) Lowel makes Gel Jawz, a nice clips for adding gels inside the softbox. Alternatively some tape works as well, but I find that it not always works, sometimes it just falls off. :)

Just curious where and what brand CTO's you are getting.

I use Lee gels, only because Calumet stock them. I don't think the brand really makes much difference as it is just a piece of coloured plastic sheet.

I'm thinking of getting this Motor cycle battery to replace the battery in the quadra.
It's supposed to not need any special charging circuit. So it should charge with the standard charger.

60mmX60mmX103 so it should fit easily.

Full specs here: http://www.ballisticparts.com …cts/batteries/EVO2-50.php (external link)

And it's red!

Looks like it's a LiPo technology battery.

Personally, I'd have serious doubts about the model you've selected, according to the manufacturer it's equivalent to an 8 Ah SLA battery, I'm looking at a SLA battery in the range of 18 Ah - 35 Ah, depending on how I decide to end up transporting it.

IMHO, If you want to go this route, and I don't think it's a bad option at all, I'd be looking at this one ......

3.5 * the capacity // 2.7 times the price (RRP)

Too easy. Thanks guys. Placed an order for a few other gels at the same time, along with some of those Gel Jawz :)

@austen,
Thanks, That one won't fit in side of the quadra battery pack. I'm going for stealth mode.
8ah is twice the capacity of the original battery, and this is more a proof of concept thing. Though if it works without any problems ...
