windpig: yeah it seems like a good quality bag so far, fits the two heads, power leads and the standard 66x66cm softboxes all in the one bag. The outside is stiff so it offers some protection plus the inside is padded.

As promised here is a couple of quick photos of the lights setup with the softboxes in my garage, and a quick self-portrait using the lights...

Nice studio area!

Thanks for the evaluation on the head bag. I'm using fabric shopping bags to carry my Ranger heads and batteries. I may grab one of the head bags.

Another question if I may. How easy is it to assemble the 66cm softboxes that came with the kit? I've only got Rotoluxes and I'm thinking of another inexpensive box for using outside, the ones that come with the kit were an option.

Ralph

Yeah, not all the kits come with the stands... but the kit I bought did :)

Yeah it needs a bit of a clean up... :)

The head bag is awesome!
The 66cm softboxes are very easy to assemble. What bums me though is they don't have double diffusion screens. Even my cheap Dörr softboxes have double diffusion screens. Maybe I'll create my own diffusion screens and put them in the softboxes.

The bags are good.

I agree about the softboxes though, it wouldn't have cost Elinchrom much to put diffusers in those softboxes.

But then again, they probably don't want you to be using those ones all that long. ;-)a

What I have done though, is purchased the deflectors, so they will mimic the other diffusion panel in those softboxes if I ever used them.

Which is unlikely as I have bought some Ebay umbrella boxes with grids, which are very versatile. :-)

Can someone please explain or verify what this email meant?
(I emailed Innovatronix why can't I plug in multiple Dlites with my Exp XT SE when other Dlite users can)
they wrote back:

-----------

The compatibility of multiple Elinchrom Dlites with Explorer XT SE is based on the monoblock's firmware.

If your monoblocks' firmware is r2 and above, you can plug in more than 2 DLites with Exp XT SE, even at full power.
If your monoblock's firmware is r1, we can only recommend one Dlite at full power, or 2 units but not at full power.

To check the firmware, plug your monoblock to a wall socket, turn it on and for a short period of time, it will display
(on the digital read out) an r-X value, where x is a number.
Monoblocks with firmware r2 and above are the newer ones.

-----------

I have yet to receive their answer on what's the difference of r1s and r2s.
I tried it and saw that mine is r1, it was less than a second and I never paid attention to it until i knew this.
When you try to power up your Elinchrom, do you see the same r-value? And what does yours say?
