Yes to this.
Another consideration is to add a modifier that has a egg crate available, like the 48X36 Photoflex

with

http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ylon_Fabric_Grid_for.html (external link)

or check out the Photoflex octa's

They make really nice stuff for the $'s

Not really if you are in EU... prices are not that much better. :/

Octodome 3 small (91cm) - was 317,47 EUR, on sale for 253,97 EUR

Rotalux 100cm octa - 258,23 EUR

What do you shoot mainly?
For models I use 100cm deep octa and 135cm octa. Both made by elinchrom.
If you fancy tad harder light then DO is good with inner diffuser only. For softer light 135cm octa is great.

I want to be able to do full length portraits with soft light. I think I like softer light better and it's easier to make a soft light harder than a hard light softer. :)

Can't go wrong with an Octa; just decide which size fits your work best. I have the 53" and the 69". the 69 is a HUGE modifier in studio.

It's the size I'm thinking about. I have found some really nice octas with grids at pretty awesome prizes. The problem is what size to buy since the studio isn't humongous.

guys, need some advise  as I recently shooting macro, i realized i do need a flash gun. currently i am considering Yongnuo 460 or 560 model (budget manual flash) and this flash gun most likely will be attach to the hot shoe. I am wonder if am using this flash gun + the bxri strobes (skyport -connect to camera monojack), can them firing at the same time? if yes, this combination will be 3 lights...

The 565ex definitely works.

I use mine as additional lights when needed.

Just set them to optical slave and they will fire when your strobes fire.

The 53 is a nice size then... works well for full body in a smallish space.

Indeed. I think you really cant go wrong if you buy this sb. All mods are a bit different and produces different light so that is why its good to have different type of modifiers.
One forum member (cant remember his name), Australian I think, uses light bank in his living room. Small place but it works great. He normally shoots in front of the modifier, its that huge :)

I have a client that has the old Elinchrom 600's and I am helping him sort out his studio.

Does anyone know if a Yongnuo rf603 would trigger them, I have no experience with them at all.

I would expect the RF603 to trigger a Elinchrom RX600. I have RF602 triggers and they work just fine with my Elinchrom RX600 lights.

Regards,

110yd

I'm not a big fan of the price increase. It used to be that Nikon was more expensive, but the last few updates from Canon are just ridiculous prices (e.g. 5D3, 24-70, 70-200 etc.).
