Pretty much every umbrella I own has broken spokes from falling over. Obviously, I have horrible luck with umbrellas

Maybe I'll look at the 100cm then. I've been using a beauty dish outdoors, but would like to get a softer light.

I can tell you mine didn't Ralph
mine when off the side of the mountain with the umbrella and the umbrella and stand looked better then the quadra after that ;) Glad I have insurance on all my gear.

Now I use a better stand and sand bags and only use fiberglass rod umbrellas.

HA, no... I just don't need two bodies anymore. I don't have time for wedding photography... 3 kids, busy job, etc, etc. Plus I'm trying to build a new PC.

7D has less than 9k actuations on it btw in case anyone is interested. ;-)a

I put these in the "Post your best wife shots" thread in the People section, but figured I'd put them here too.

I used the modeling lights from the strobes, not the flash tubes, so that I could better WYSIWYG balance between the flashes and the candles, and also for a better color coordination between the candles and the lights.

The backdrop is a big vinyl banner; it took a little bit of finagling to minimize glare from the lights on the backdrop.

And for this, I turned the modeling lights way way down so that the candles are the main light, and the Elinchroms only provide a little bit of background illumination and some reflections on the horns, dress, and hands.

I just haven't been buying new gear lately, that's all. I hardly ever check the for-sale ads here. Next things I need are a good boom, and a battery pack... I don't need any more modifiers right now.
